Party!
New Years Eve 2006 was held at Elaine's house in Governors Park. Thanks to Elaine for giving MATA a place to converse and toot our horns and wear our hats and toast the New Year. Three potential members joined us.

2005
New Year's eve 2005 was different, warmer and lots of fun. We watched videos, some funny international animations, a strange video of Eddie Cantor from the 1920's where he bombed on stage, a very zen Korean movie, "Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring". And of course, George W put in an appearance and he had to bear a lot of abuse and a little love.
Our hiking group has reached the age of seven years. It was founded on February 28th, 1993. A tough group of 15 of us earned our lunch by hiking along the Eno River in the rain on Saturday, March 3rd, 2001. A lot more including some old timers that we haven't seen in years turned up to help us celebrate the club's anniversary at George's Garage. Thanks to Earl and John for providing the lunch and cake. Mary wrote two songs to commemorate the occasion which we sang with gusto. Richard, our newest member lit the candles and Margie, one of our original members, cut the cake. Great fun!
We have gathered together more and more just like a family. Our local hiking group has coalesced around a group of very talented people. 2000's New Year's Eve party at Mary and Bill's new home was fabulous. There was a group our members who provided two hours of entertainment. We had Suzie Bolotin who bangs out tunes from memory on the upright piano, Sam who is a creditable basist, Jill who still plays her flute professionally, and Mary who occasionally took her fiddle from the rack on the wall to join in. The music ranged from Klezmer (Suzie and Sam play in a band) to the Kingston Trio. For those who slept over into 2001 we were treated to a first class performance of, guess what, Tom Lehrer songs by Suzie and Ken Pugh who have committed those college protest ditties to memory.
